Today Douglas, Wyoming, is a community of over 5,400 people. Located 130 miles north of Cheyenne, along the banks of the North Platte River. Douglas is located in Converse County, which it's current population is approximately 12,870.

The North Platte offers entertainment for those who love to fish, swim, canoe, or just take a walk on the romantic scenic walking paths located at the rivers edge.

Douglas was named after Stephen A. Douglas who was a U.S. senator and presidential opponent of Abraham Lincoln.
